A huge congratulations to Red Lions Scholarship Holder Zac Southern who has just beened named the Allied Pickfords Cup Player of the Week! The lanky lad’s hard work over the preseason has been evident in his performances through the first few rounds and this is a thoroughly deserved accolade for Zac. When the UQAFC was promoted to Division 1 few would have expected the new kids on the block to claim their first scalp as early as round 2. April 27th will go down in history as the club’s first Allied Pickfords Cup Senior win as they held out Noosa to take the chocolates by 1 point in a hard-fought match. An exciting week ahead for a couple of Red Lionesses as they prepare to take on the best of the best in Queensland at the 2013 Women’s State Championships. Despite having little to no Australia Football experience the girls have been selected to play for the SEQ North team. With the upcoming launch of the UQAFC Business Directory, this Saturday will see the Red Lions hold a Sponsors Day at Oval 7. With Division 4 playing on Friday night and both Division 3 and the Ladies not having any matches this weekend there is sure to be a big crowd at Oval 7 to see our Division 1 sides take on Noosa. We would encourage anyone thinking of joining the UQAFC Business Directory to come along and have a look at the club in full flight.
Despite trying to keep the beginnings of her footballing career relatively secret, new UQAFC recruit and inaugural member of the Red Lionesses, Beth Newman, has been found out!
