New to the club? We’d love to welcome you down to Field 9 as part of the Red Lion Army! We cater for all levels of football ability and fitness, and pride ourselves on both our impressive on-field exploits as well as our strong social atmosphere.

Our Men’s teams compete in the QFA Div 1 Seniors and Reserves playing each Saturday and for more beginner or social players we also field teams in the amateur competition, QFA Div 4. We have also established a strong Ladies program with teams competing both in the QWAFL (elite players) and QWFA Div 1 (developing players).

The best way to join us is simply to attend a training session:

QFA Div 1

  • 6:00pm Tuesdays – Field 9
  • 6:00pm Thursdays – Field 9

QFA Div 4

  • 6:30pm Mondays – Field 9
  • 6:30pm Wednesdays – Field 9

QWAFL & QWFA Div 1

  • 6:00pm Mondays – Field 9
  • 6:00pm Wednesdays (QWAFA) – Field 9

Our home ground is the University of Queensland’s Field (formerly known as Oval 7). When driving along Sir Fred Schonell Drive towards the University, Field 9 is the first field you see at the first roundabout you come to, at the corner of Coldrige Street. Turn right at the roundabout and park anywhere along the street for Field 9..

‘Freers’ gym is used by the UQAFC as a strength and conditioning facility and is located at 103 Sir Samuel Griffith Drive, Bardon. Turn towards Mount Cootha off the Toowong roundabout that is closest to the Western Freeway and continue to follow Sir Samuel Griffith Drive until you find the large brick building on your the right hand side of the road.

Players new to the club:

  • If you have played Men’s senior level football recently please attend the QFA Div 1 training or contact our senior Senior Coach to discuss your interest in joining the club.

  • All new players, players returning after a hiatus, players returning from injury or players needing fitness work, please attend the QFA Div 4 training. You can contact our QFA Div 4 Coach to find out more.

  • Players who are 18 years of age or younger are asked to please contact our Vice President to enquire about joining the team at Western Bulldogs (our Colts/ Junior Partners).

  • Ladies wishing to join the UQAFC can contact our Ladies Coach to find out more about our ladies program.

Players are required to bring both running shoes and football boots to all training sessions.
