The UQAFC have been invited to participate in the upcoming AFL 9s competition at the Northern University Games to be held in Lismore, NSW, from July 1-5 this year. Griffith, QUT, SCU, Bond and USQ are all entered so it is appropriate for us to attend. It will an incredibly entertaining week as the boys from the Australian Uni Games squad will agree.
To field a team, we need 9-12 students to participate. We’re open to the team being men’s or mixed (minimum of 3 females included). Games are 9-a-side with unlimited interchanges, played on soccer-sized fields. Matches are played under ‘touch’ rules, and are 40 minutes long.
The AFL 9s competition will run from the Monday through Thursday with up to 6 games played by the team. The club will arrange transport to Lismore and all equipment, however there is an accommodation cost of $275 for the duration of the tournament and a small rego fee to take part.
Please email Peter “Red” Herring if you are interested in attending on president@redlions.org.au

The University of Queensland Australian Football Club is currently seeking the services of a Senior Coach for 2010. Over the last four years, the Club has grown from two to four senior grade teams, this year fielding Senior and Reserve teams in each of the State Association Division 1 and Division 2 competitions. The club also fields a continually thriving under 18s side in the SportsReady Under 18 Division 2 competition.
After a lean year in 2009, the successful applicant will be tasked with returning the Senior Division 1 team to the success of previous years, overseeing the development of the playing list and providing guidance to the club’s coaching and playing groups .
