UQ Sports Achievers Scholarships – Clinic this Saturday 17th Dec

The REDLIONS UQAFC has invited applicants for its 2012 scholarship to attend at Oval 7, Fred Schonell Drive, St Lucia (UQ Campus) on Saturday the 17th of December at 9.30am. We will run a short skills clinic to start the day for about 45min. We will take the applicants and their families on a quick tour of the UQ campus sporting facilities followed up by a BBQ lunch.

We would love to see as many Club members as possible join us – bring both your runners and football boots to participate.

UQAFC 2012 U18′s coach appointed

The University of Queensland AFC is pleased to announce the appointment of Quentin Johnson as the clubs Under 18 coach for the 2012 season.

A familiar name to many football fans in Brisbane’s western suburbs, Quentin was the clubs senior coach in the early 2000′s after a distinguished playing career at AFL, VFL and QAFL levels.

Quentin is a personal trainer by profession and in addition to his exceptional coaching qualifications, has a first class physical fitness and training for high performance background. The 2011 U18 National Championships record details Quentin’s involvement recently at the youth level.

On the evening of Wednesday December 7^that 7pm, the UQAFC will be holding their 2012 season launch at UQCC on Oval 1 (Wep Harris Oval). We would like to invite all prospective U18 players and families to attend, to meet Quentin as well as hearing of the clubs plans for 2012 and beyond.

Tim Mackinley appointed as 2011 Senior Coach

The UQ Red Lions committee is please to announce Tim Mackinley as the 2011 Senior Coach.

The coaching selection committee were extremely impressed with Tim’s vision for taking the club forward for the 2011 season and beyond.

The club is extremely pleased to have a person of Tim’s caliber on board and look forward to a long and successful relationship.

Tim will be joined by Darren Harvey and Justin Long as co-coaches for the reserve team.

The UQ Red Lions would like to announce the Coaching Sub Committee to oversee the appointment of the senior coaching position from the remainder of the 2011 season.

This committee has a sharp football focus and is charged with forwarding the best applicant possible.

The committee will consist of:

Travis Warren.
Heath Nankivell
Ray Windsor.

For those that do not know Ray, he is a former Brisbane Bears player whose distinguished career saw him win premierships at senior level in both the SANFL and QAFL. He is currently the coach of the Queensland state U16′s side. The committee believes Ray’s impeccable credentials reflect our determination and drive to appoint an outstanding candidate capable of delivering the success all club members have been striving towards.

Applicants have until the 19th March to apply with the goal of new coach taking up the reigns leading up to round 1.

University Of Queensland AFC Require Coaches For 2010

The University of Queensland Australian Football Club is currently seeking the services of a Senior Coach for 2010. Over the last four years, the Club has grown from two to four senior grade teams, this year fielding Senior and Reserve teams in each of the State Association Division 1 and Division 2 competitions. The club also fields a continually thriving under 18s side in the SportsReady Under 18 Division 2 competition.

After a lean year in 2009, the successful applicant will be tasked with returning the Senior Division 1 team to the success of previous years, overseeing the development of the playing list and providing guidance to the club’s coaching and playing groups .

This is a unique opportunity to oversee the on and off field development of one of Queensland’s largest and longest established football clubs.
