Dear Red Lions,

Our 2 Codes Sports Lunch at the Norman Hotel has been rescheduled to happen on Friday, 18th May at 12.30pm.

This is the perfect opportunity to treat your friends, colleagues or business associates with an afternoon of sports, great food and a selection of James Squire Beers and St Hallett Wines.

The lunch will be hosted by Luttsy from Nova and feature Jonathan Brown and Jamie Charman from the Brisbane Lions, with Peter Hynes and Van Humphries from the QLD Reds. They will entertain you and your guests with the latest AFL and Rugby news, directly from the source.

There are limited Table Captain spaces available, so please contact me ASAP if you are interested in securing a table as a Table Captain or to join us for Lunch.

Graphic Designer Required

The Red Lions are looking for a graphic designer for an advertisement to be placed in the UQ Sport Magazine.

The club requires someone to design and create a 1/3 page horizontal ad to be placed in the upcoming 2011 UQ Sport magazine.

The advertisment should contain the official Red Lions logo, portray what a great club we have and most of all our love of AFL.

The chosen designer will be given the amazing opportunity to spend a weekend, all expenses paid, on the cruise ship The Proteus.

Deadline to submit the finished product is Friday 4th Jan. If you are interested please contact Travis Warren who can provide the fine details of the task.

Footy Trip Bond Returned

After the 2010 Footy Trip we have now had the Bond returned from the accommodation venue.

Some of this Bond money has been taken by the club to ensure that the club is not at a loss due to costs of the Footy Trip. Subsequently all members who paid Bond will receive $90 of their $100 Bond back.

There are four members whose Bond has been taken by the club to cover Presentation Night tickets which they ordered but never paid for.

All those with money to receive back may choose to have it put towards their 2011 Fees (preferred option) or email myself at president@redlions.org.au with your Bank Account Details to have it transferred to you.

Come gather around people because the 2010 Red Lions tipping competition is now OPEN!

This is your chance to pit your wits against the Red Lions’ finest to see who will emerge as the 2010 champ.

Entry is $10 with cash prizes to be won whilst raising some much needed extra $$$$ for training gear for the playing group.

Entry is open to absolutely anyone so make sure you pass the word on to your friends. The more people that enter the bigger the prizes, not to mention to opportunity to purchase that thigh master B.K has had his eye on.

UQ Triathlon & Duathlon

This Saturday is our Triathlon and Duathlon at the Ithaca Pool Paddington.

Cost: $3.50

Date: Saturday 23^rd Jan

Location: Ithaca swimming pool

Time: Arrive at 6.00am for registration

Race briefing: 6.15am this is important for the transition area. There is a street we need to negotiate before we get on our bikes for the bike leg.

Race time: 6.30am – 7.30am

Bring:

Bike
Swimmers
Runners
Towel
Drink bottles
Money for a coffee at Park Rd, Milton

After the race there will be a group of us going to the Coffee Club at Park Rd Milton

Players need to be there at 6.00am to register so I can place you in heats, set up your bikes and tell you about the race track/location/transitions.

Christmas BBQ

In the spirit of the festive season, Mark Keighley (with the reluctant yet supportive backing of TC) has offered to hold an ‘unofficial’ UQ Red Lion Christmas BBQ at their place, on Sunday the 20thof December. The festivities will begin from 1pm and end at 7pm SHARP (as TC has to work on Monday and wants a good night’s sleep). For those interested in kicking on, we will most likely be heading into the Valley to continue on with the proceedings.
Where:

When: Sunday 20th December, 1pm – 7pm
What: BYO grog (some food provided)
RSVP: Please just let Mayesy, TC or Keighley know at training so that we can get an idea of numbers.
