On Saturday 17 May 2014 history was made with the hosting of the inaugural Red Lions Gala Ball.
Red Lions and Red Lionesses young and old gathered together at the Royal on the Park in a momentous night thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The night was opened by a brilliant summary of the club’s recent achievements and of where we are heading courtesy of President Peter Herring. Read his president’s address here.
Central to the night was a celebration of the 1984 Red Lions senior premiership and we were thrilled to be able to host so many of these legends for the night. The current senior squad presented the men of 84 with premiership medallions and the crowd were treated to stirring rendition of the club song, “Drunk Last Night”.
We also welcomed two new life members to the club, recognition of the years of service from Travis Warren and Darren Harvey.
A massive thank you and congratulations to Tim Mackinley, Alistair Calrson, Amilia Read, Sinead Hastie and their helpers for making the night such a huge success.
The crowd loved the photobooth (as you can see from the photos below!), got right into the fundraising efforts of the night (comprising of balloon raffle, reverse raffle and major auction prizes) and most importantly soaked up a fantastic atmosphere in even better company.
Bring on the 2015 Red Lions Gala Ball which will celebrate the 50 year anniversary of the 1965 senior premiership!
