The inaugural UQAFC Ladies Day last weekend was a massive success with a number of friends, family, partners and players enjoying an afternoon of sunshine, drinks and football on the hill at Oval 7. Led by the members of the Red Lionesses, the female footy fanatics of the club showed great support for the QAFL boys as they applied a great deal of pressure to a very strong Morningside side.
A huge thank you to Nick Davis and Mark McCutcheon for organising a great deal of the afternoon’s entertainment, Jordy McDonald for DJ’ing throughout the match and on in to the night, and to Shell De Roche (with the help of other QAFL partners) for arranging raffles, bake-sales and other fundraising activities for women’s cancer research.
It was a great way to recognise the efforts of the females within our club, whether they be players, partners or supporters, and we have plans to expand upon the event’s success in the future to engage a broader audience.
