Major Milestone For Club Stalwart Stephenson

With a club career spanning back almost two decades, it would be easy for tonight’s QAFA(B) match to fade into the memory-bank for club stalwart Daryl Stephenson.

But anytime a club legend plays a milestone it is a big occasion and the boys will no doubt be making a big deal out of “Dazzler’s” 150th tonight.

He first played at the UQAFC in 1996 and 1997 under coach Richard Bennett and then went on hiatus until 2003.

Returning mainly to play in our Division 1 reserves, he also saw a stint in the seniors in 2005.

He tasted premiership success in 2006 with our Division 1 Reserves and then stepped up to club administration in 2007 where he served as treasurer.

Dazzler proudly marks back-to-back premierships in 2013-14 with the 4ths as career highlights and will be hoping to add another with his current team in the QAFA(B) competition.

“Memorable moments would have to be all of the grand finals, but in particular winning the 2006 reserves grand final, as I believe it was the first at the club since 1987. Having said that, playing in back to back grand finals was pretty special too, let’s hope there is a three peat coming!”

We understand that the boys will be patronizing the Regatta Hotel tonight to celebrate Darryl’s milestone, and would like to invite any of his past team-mates or friends for a beer and a yarn.

Best of luck tonight in your 150th and over the course of 2015 Daz!
