It’s been a long and tough pre-season at the UQ Red Lions AFC with some wins and some losses both on and off the field, however the outlook for 2011 is bright. Now that things are settling down we’d like to bring you up to date on what has been happening and what is planned for 2011 and beyond at the Red Lions.

Well, what a start to season 2011!
I will start with by commenting on the fact that most if not all of the Red Lion ‘Magoo’s’ sides that I have known over the past five years have been in good form at the start of the season. Division 1 seniors have ground out a 10 point victory over a state league stacked Aspley at Oval 7. Poor goal kicking almost cost the Red Lions in the 15.17-107 to 15.7-97 victory. Continue reading ‘Division 1 teams both 2-0′

The Red Lions Division 1 Senior and Reserves sides pulled off one of the most difficult feats in the league: winning both games away in Caloundra.
This is renowned as being one of the most challenging road trips of the year, and to have the Seniors grab a narrow three point win against last year’s Premiers on their home turf is an outstanding start to 2011.
The UQ Red Lions committee is please to announce Tim Mackinley as the 2011 Senior Coach.
