Hello from the UQAFC Red Lions,
This weekend the QAFL lads head off to Morningside to take on the wobbly Siders. After consecutive losses, the Siders narrowly scraped home against a plucky Sandgate last week (who kicked a wayward 6-12-48) by only 154 points. Our lads are looking to extend their run of poor form with several handy “ins” and a couple of our top regulars returning to the top flight. It’s a full program at Esplen Oval with the Colts looking for another win against Morningside starting at 9.30 am and the Reserves underway at 11.30 am before the Seniors at 2 pm.
The QAFA B juggernaut met a big and tough Coorparoo outfit last Friday to go down by a couple of goals however have the Ipswich Eagles in their sights at Moorooka on Friday night at 7 pm. The QWAFL Ladies also face up to some feathered friends meeting the Zillmere Eagles at 2 pm on Saturday at home on Oval 7. After their stunning win over Bond at their last outing away from home, the QWAFA Ladies tackle the Burleigh Bombers beforehand at 12 pm at Oval 7 on Saturday also.
Please also find attached an invitation to the annual UQAFC Old Boys Day which this years is a celebratory lunch for club legend Rossy Stuart who is now a 250 game veteran. No doubt he’ll have a very detailed recollection of every match over the journey and is still actively sharing his love of the game and the club with the new members to the UQAFC. On Sunday August 2nd , Old Boys are encouraged to book a table at the Norman Hotel for lunch with mates after which the free Norman bus will take everyone Oval 7 for the home game to watch the QAFL Seniors take on Sandgate.
Everyone who comes down to the Norman for the Old Boys Lunch Aug 2nd, will go into the draw to win a round of golf at Sanctuary Cove for you and 3 buddies.
Please support our major sponsor by booking a table with your mates, come and have a beer with Rossy and then head out to the game in the free Norman Bus.
Thanks for all your support and we look forward to seeing you at the footy!
All the best,
